The most recent TIME magazine cover features Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone. The venerable American publication referred to Padukone as a “global star” who “brings the world to Bollywood.” Padukone has already been included in its list of the top 100 figures in the world in 2018. Deepika is said to as “the most popular actress in the most populous country in the world.” She can be seen on the cover without any shoes and donning an enormous beige suit.
The actor joined Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, and other notable names as one of the few Indian celebrities to appear on the cover of TIME. She stated in the magazine interview that “my mission has always been to make a global impact while still being rooted in my country.” Despite India’s two historic Oscar victories, the actor was open about the opportunities that lie ahead for the country.
